How To Join St. Mary's Parish

If you or your child have not been baptized and would like to explore the possibility of baptism, speak to the clergy who will be happy to talk with you and give you more information. Adults who have not been baptized generally spend a period of time (the length of which is flexible given a variety of factors) in personal exploration of the Christian faith with the Rector. During this period they are called "catechumens."

Adult baptisms are particularly appropriate on Easter Eve at the Great Vigil of Easter, or when the Bishop is present.

Transfer of Membership: If you have previously been a member of the Episcopal Church, contact the parish office and let us know you would like to transfer your membership to St. Mary's. We will send for a Letter of Transfer from your former parish.

If your previous church was of a different faith tradition, we cannot formally transfer you. We only transfer persons to and from Churches in communion with the Archbishop of Canterbury. We may, however, need to be in touch with your former church about dates of Baptism, Confirmation, etc. We do not re-baptize anyone who has been baptized with water in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in any orthodox Christian Church.

Continued membership in the Church involves:
+ Regular attendance and reception of communion.
+ The support of your church's mission in terms of time, talent and treasure, regular financial support (most make an annual financial pledge), and a time and talent pledge.
