5 Aug. 1695: Bond of Robt. Reives, Thos. Anderson & Charles Gee to pay the orphans of
Morris Caligham, when they come of age, such estate as belongs to them
and payment by Sarah, the Executrix of Caligham, now wife of said Reives
15 Oct. 1695: Charles City is Dr. these persons following; viz:
Charles Gee, wolves killed with gun 200, Henry Jones 200, John Jones
200, etc. ( I think this record is exempting tobacco from being taxed for
killing wolves)
EARLY VA. GEE RECORDS
Note on the following: People living in the colonies would pay the passage for people
living in England to travel to the colonies. In return the colonist paying the passage
received 50 acres of land. The immigrants were obligated to stay in the colonies for 2
years. Many of them may have been sharecroppers on the 50 acres. After the 2 year period
the immigrant could stay in the colony or return to England.
