Rholde Island Gees!!! I'm looking for information on all relatives of Olive Gee, born to a Joel Gee, in 1815. Olive died in 1883 and is buried with her husband (and her parents?)in Slatersville, RI. According to family legend, Olive and her family were related to French royalty. Ooh la la! She had seven children with her husband, John Wardle, between roughly 1839 and 1851. They were Olive, Henry, Ellen, Joshua, Joel, William, and Ann Wardle. Daughter, Olive Gee Wardle married Edwin Logan Holt and moved to Illinois. That's how I fit in! Does this sound at all familiar to anyone out there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for the ancestors of George Leonard Gee, born 11-26-1913, in Christian County, KY. His father's name was either Arthur George Gee or George Arthur Gee, & I believe his mother's name was Mamie. George Leonard Gee married Mary Louise Hall (born 2-23-1913). These are my grandparents on my dad's side. From what I can determine, the Gee line I come from lived in the Christian County, KY area at least starting with my great-grandparents, & continuing through me. I was born in Hopkinsville, KY, as well as my father, Robert Leonard Gee, Sr. (born 2-23-1934). Any information as to whether "my" Gees come from Charles & Hannah's line (or whose) would be extremely helpful.

I have a petition dated 1838 from my g g g g grandmother Esther Sisel for the remainder of her husband, Timothy Sexton's, pension. She lists John Gee as a relative and witness to the fact that she and Timothy were married in 1782 in York district SC. They later moved to Morgan county TN (the location of the court she is petitioning). The spelling of her last name is questionable so any variations ie. Cecil or Sessel etc could be possible. Who is John Gee and what was their connection? She states John was a young lad at the time and that he lived in the vicinity of William Hills Iron foundry on Allison creek SC. He may have moved to TN and lived in the same area as Timothy and Esther. Thanks.

My GGGrandfather, Joseph Smith, was married to a Laura Ann Gee and they lived in Ontario, Canada. According to my information Laura Ann was born January 20, 1818; my GGGrandfather was born March 15, 1798. One Canadian census shows that they lived in Dereham Township, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada. My GGrandfather, Ira Christopher Smith, was born January 16, 1852 in Oxford County, Ontario, Canada. I have been trying, without much luck, to track the ancestors of both Joseph and Laura Ann. If someone reading this has any information concerning these two that would help my quest I would love to hear from you.

This is an addition to my post on April 20, 1997. I had posted that Francis Marion Sutton had married Jane Gee. Well, the history that I have gets confusing. What I have is a short history of the Fulwider and Gee families that someone put together in 1969. I am researching Suttons and supposedly the Francis Sutton in here is my gg grandfather, Francis Marion Sutton. (Several Suttons in my family apparently have copies of this same history.) It says that he married Jane Gee, daughter of Josiah Gee and Nancy Rawlings Gee. The history follows the family from Indiana to Nebraska (all the same areas of Nebraska where my Suttons are from). It never mentions any kids from Francis (Frank) and Jane. What gets confusing is that on my gg uncle's death certificate it lists his parents as Francis Marion Sutton of Indiana and NANCY Gee of Indiana. I have talked to my gg uncles son and he says that he thinks Francis was married twice but the fact that the wives had the same last names confuses me. This history has a ton of names in it...I just haven't gone through and sorted them out yet.

If anyone is familiar with this Gee, Fulwider, Sutton or family AT ALL please contact me. I am stuck and confused. :-}

Hi, I sure hope someone out there can help me. My mother-in-law's real father was Albert Forest Gee. When my mother-in-law and her twin sister were about 3 years old Albert left the family. Anyway he and grandmother were divorced and no one has heard from him since. This is the only infomation that I have. On the marriage certificate he was born in 1904 and that may not be right as they may have lied about their age. Anyway it would have been in the early 1900's. He was married to Catherine Thelma Rogers in 1926. January 11, 1927 they had twin girls, names are Helen June Gee and Albert Jean (Jene) Gee. We did hear that he remarried and may have had twin boys. If anybody has any information I would be most grateful. We would like to know about our family and where they might be. I am sure that granddad Albert is deceased but would like to know about the rest of the family and our family history and where we are from.
Thank you
Robin

Seeking information regarding an African-American/Native American family that was from the area of "Sunflower" Mississippi(close to Yazoo, MS and nearest bus station (around 1943) was Memphis, TN per my elderly aunt).

My grandfather was Willie Gee and he married Carrie Collins(also from "Sunflower"). Willie was born 1885 - 1900(exact date/year of birth unknown). They moved to Detroit, MI in the early 20th century. Carrie Collins and Willie Gee had a significant amount of Native American ancestry. In addition, there was Caucasion blood in the Willie Gee line. One of his ancestors was known by the appellation of "half-breed" he was part Native American and Caucasion. Willie Gee had at least 3 brothers. They were George, David, and "Bishop" (not sure of this last one's name. In stories, my Dad (Rayfus) referred to him as 'Uncle Bish", his favorite). Carrie and Willie had 10 children: Hudie, Ethel, Curtis, Rayfus, Earlene, Sam (Sammy), Rudolph (Rudy), Freddie, Thomas (died while a child), and Bartholemew (also died as a child). All of them are deceased except Earlene (Gee) Neeley (now the eldest) and Freddie Gee (Rayfus Gee was the surviving eldest,he died 01/03/97, his DOB was 11/21/20, in Hamtramck, MI). The most well known of the children was Sam (Sammy) Gee. Sam was an All-city, All-state, All-American athelete in all the major sports in high school (a feat that has yet to be duplicated in Detroit or anywhere else in Michigan). He was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers farm club, and eventually spent 1-3 years with the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team.

Discovered recently by accident that one daughter of an ancestor married into the Gee family in Lunenburg County, Virginia, and would like to discover more about her and any descendants.

According to "Marriages of Lunenburg County, Virginia, 1746-1853, compiled by Emman R. Matheny and Helen K. Yates, George L. Gee married S. G. (Sarah Gatewood) Shelor on March 30, 1819. Sarah was the daughter of Jacob Shelor and Betsy Ryland. Any information on this branch would be much appreciated.

I am researching the ancestors/descendants of Richard Gee b: 1779 Charlton, Newbottle, Northamptonshire England. Richard died 1845 in England. Married Elizabeth ??? their issue was John b. 1805, Elizabeth b.1809, Mary b. 1812, George b. 1814 and Susanah b. 1815 all born in the same place as their father.

Is anybody else researching this line? I do have a data list on this family here in New Zealand, plus the ship they came from the UK on plus dates of departure and arrival.

I can do a GEDCOM if somebody requires it.

Looking for information on Thomas Gee christened on March 2, 1643 possibly in Newton Ferrers, Devon, England. Son of Peter Gee christened on January 25, 1614 in Newton Ferrers, Devon, England. Peter Gee was in America by 1653. The whereabouts of his son Thomas after 1673 is unknown. Gee family tradition is that Thomas Gee was the father of Charles Gee of Virginia born 1650 - 1670.
