I am looking for the family of John Gee from Virginia. John died on May 14, 1865 in Gallia County Ohio.  John was a prominent member of the town. John donated the land for the AME church and hence the church was named in his honor. I know he traces back to Virginia, possibly the Berkley plantation. I have no other further info. I need much more. Thanks in advance.

Looking for Mary Gee born 1790s in Cheshire, England. Would like to identify her parents. She was married to Nehemiah Maddock born in Northamptonshire, England. Around 1856 they migrated from Clipston, Naseby Northamptonshire to Lorain County, Ohio. Could Mary have had relatives of the Gee name in this area at the time? Could Mary have been a cousin of the Gee families settled in northwest Missouri about that time? This couple, my GGGrandparents remained in this area of Ohio the rest of their days. Can anybody provide a lead? Thanks

Looking for information on William and Alice Gee. Came to Downingtown, Pa. from England following the Boer War. Alice maiden name was Wollard. My sister-in-law's maiden name is Martha Virginia Gee. Family Bible lists her parents as Dr. James Nathan Gee and Lucy Ellen Hackard. Dr. Gee's parents are John H. Gee and Virginia Sparks. Lucy Hackard's parents are John Henry Hackard and Martha Reeves. According to 1920 Census Report, Anderson Co., Texas James Gee b.1868?, Physician, father from Virginia, mother from Alabama, married to Cora. Martha's stories recount a marriage that produced two sons (Howell?), another marriage that produced two daughters (Martha and her sister, Mary). Obviously, there was a third marriage since Cora was raising the two girls in the 1920 census. The family was raised in the Anderson Co. (Mount Selman, Palestine) area of Texas. Thought this might help someone else since I detected several common first names in family. If anyone makes a connection to this family, I would appreciate information so I can fill in her family tree.

I am looking for the family history of my GG grandfather, Andrus Merrimon Gee and his wife Matilda Bartholomew Gee, who were said to have been born in Ohio ca 1825-26. Their parents were both reportedly born in New York. In the 1850 Census they are both living in Geneva, Ashtabula Co. Ohio. He is said to have come to California the first time from Wisconsin in 1859 but by 1870, they were living in Faribault County, Pilot Grove, Minnesota where my G grandmother Minnie Gee was born. They returned to California in 1872 (Taylorsville, Plumas Co,) and his wife died there in 1873. He died in 1900.

I have had no luck with the ancestors of this family and really need a break. Any help will be appreciated.

I am an African American 21 year-old Gee and I have always been curious about my father's history. He is from Smith County, Texas and I often visit Gee's Memorial when we visit our relatives. Although, we have family reunions, they only occur with those around (in the Smith County area) us. I would like to know more about the migration of African American Gees to Texas and their origins. Were they slaves or were they children/grandchildren of the Gees you've mentioned? Which Gees were plantation owners (if that's applicable)? Please contact me via email, with your findings so that I can relay the information to older members of my family here in Texas. Also, is there a link between Gees and Ghees? Thanks. Sincerely, Erayne N. Gee

My grandad, Harold Gee (son of Alice Howe -Edinburough, Scotland & Robert Gee -of Lancashire) was the youngest of 7 children born in and around the Manchester (Swinton/Stockport/Pendleton)areas...in 1908.(My g-grandad-Robert Gee was born to Mr. Joseph Gee/occupation listed as 'ropemaker') His other siblings were Robert Gee (died fighting for the Lancashire Fusaliers around 1915...buried in Greece); Henry Gee, Bessie Gee, Alice Gee, Dorothy Gee, & Peggy Gee. In 1910 (grandad was 2 yrs.) his family moved to Canada. Our family now resides in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. My grandad is now deceased. My family knew nothing about the history of grandad's kin, so I decided to start a search which began almost 2 yrs. ago. Through my search, I have found one distant relative(perhaps 5th cousin), Mr. Martin Gee of the UK, and a relation to a deceased-Mr. Arthur H. Gee of the infamous 'R.M.S. Titanic' of 1912.

I have recently discovered my 'family treasure' through a dream I had months prior of my grandad coming to me and telling me that something of much importance awaits me at gran's apt. I went there the next day, only to discover an old chocolate box (fully in-tact) with a preserved label which reads..."LOVELL'S CHOCOLATES, MANCHESTER." (I believe the box dates back probably to the 1800's...but not sure). Inside the box, was my family genealogy I never believed existed! The contents have saved me approximately 2 years of investigation. Photo's from 1700-1800's and so on, original birth and marriage documents, war medals, war memorabilia, etc.,

If anything sounds familiar, would you please contact me at my email address sstoikos@hotmail.com

My great grandmother was named Eliza Gee. She was born on July 22, 1828. She married Thomas Knott in 1848. Since he resided and worked in Fall River, Massachusetts, presumably that is where she also resided and is the likely locale of the marriage. On or about 1871 Eliza, her husband migrated to Eastern Township, Ottertail County, Minnesota where they homesteaded a farm in that Township. Eliza died on July 12, 1905 and is buried in the Knott plot in the Parkers Prairie, Minnesota Cemetary. She is joined there by her husband, one son, Thomas, his wife Etta Mae Hazen Knott, one daughter, Peggy Knott Walley. In addition to Thomas and Peggy, Eliza and her husband had three other children, one John Knott of Chicago, one Mrs. Charles Hazen, of Hewitt, Minnesota and one child name unknown to me. There seems to be family lore that my branch of the Gee family originated first in Scotland (as MacGee from clan MacKay) who were sent to Ireland and settled in Northern Ireland. From there they migrated to Canada (Hamilton, Ontario?) and eventually to the United States where they dropped the Mac from the name and became "Americanized" as Gee. They settled in Syracuse, N.Y. and my great-grandfather was John Alexander Gee married Anna Nicholson (family may have lived in Canada and migrated at the same time as the MacGees) whose children were Mildred Gee and John Alexander Gee, Jr. John Alexander Gee, Jr. was my father who lived December 7, 1917 (I think that was the year) through January, 1988. I would appreciate any assistance you could give me in verifying this family legend.

Well folks, this is probably a touchy subject for most but in the interest of finding my great-grandfather and his siblings. Here goes. My great-grandfather only appears in 1870 census of Lunenburg, VA, where he lived in the Pleasant Grove township. His name was Littleton Gee. There is no indication as to his age. He could not have been an infant though because one of his sons (my grandfather) was born 1891. Becuase he was African American he obviously adopted the name from one of the GEE families. That means he obviously was a slave. I'm trying to find any information I can about any other relatives (parents, siblings, etc.). He later married a young woman by the name of Henrietta (last name unknown). Any information would help.

I am trying to identify the parents of John Gee who resided in Orange County, N. C. in 1779. His wife's name is possibly Constant Odean Gee. Would also like to know if this is indeed his wifes name and who her parents were. John Gee and family are in Kentucky by 1800 in Lincoln County. He is on the 1810 census for Casey county, KY. with his family. His wife has died and he and the younger children have moved to Washington County, In. by 1820. Does anyone know if this John Gee is the John Gee who served in the Revolutionary War from N. C.? Hope someone of you has some information on this John Gee.

I believe that he probably met her in Canada. She is supposed to be of French Canadian and native American decent. She may have been a native "princess". I have no documentation for her other than the marriage. If anyone has any clues to help me find more out about her, I would be extremely grateful.

I am looking for any Gee's who have lived in, or near Flora, Mississippi, but not limited to. Could possibly be in any parts of Mississippi. My great grandmother was a "Gee", and from my understanding they were often referred to as "Creek Indians" as well. If anyone know of or heard such please let me know. My mother is 80 now, so the time period would have been in the mid to late 1800's to early 1900's time period.

I'm trying to trace my tree on my mother's side, who lived in Mississippi, generally aroung the Yazoo County area, but not limited to. Her name was Clara Jones(Jones was her maiden name) she married Jessie C. Williams, my father, and her grandmother was a "Gee". She said they were often refered to as "Creek Indians" and she can recall her long pony tail. Please contact with any info.

Updating info since earlier query here: Looking for any info regarding Gees who came from either Hull, Yorkshire, or Sidcup, Kent. Looking for info re John Phillip Gee born abt. 1844 or his father, possibly also John Gee. Apparently, John Gee SR, born in England came to US before 1844, had a house that was where Brooklyn Bridge was built. Had at least one child, John Phillip Gee, born in NY circa 1844. Returned to England sometime before 1880 because John Phillip Gee married an English girl, Louisa Grice of Suffolk and settled in Kent. Possibiliity is when John Gee, sr. returned to England he may have left a child in US, possibly a married daughter whose descendants ended up in New Jersey. Ring any bells???
