I have a fairly extensive history of the Gee family - tied with the Truslove family - in Western Australia. What I am trying to trace is the parents and forebears of Charles and Mary Ann Gee who left the West Taring/Durington area near Worthing, England in 1829. They sailed on the ship 'Caroline' and arrived in Fremantle on 12th October 1829. There seems to be a void in knowledge of who their parents are, and further back.

I'd welcome hearing from any Gee family who can link, or give some indications of the family from this part of England.

Just looking for more Gee's. My brother John H. Gee (e-mail wegees@bright.net) in Ohio has done extensive reserch on the family line. We are direct decendents of the Gees that owned West Point, NY and Moses Gee, a Revolutionary War Vet of the NY Line. Moses moved to Ohio in 1803 and settled near Gallia where he and his wife Phebe are buried. Decendents married into the Rupe family and moved to Iowa in the mid 1800s. Enoch Gee is off that line. My brother is still looking for the connection between Enoch Gee, born in Ohio, died in Iowa and his son Enoch. At that time, Ohio had no birth records and Iowa no death certificates ... hence "we can not make the official connection" Any help out there would be appreciated.

My brother's reserch discovered that four main lines of the name Gee immigrated from the British Isles. Two from Scotland and two from England. We are from the Scottish line. No direct relation to those of Gees Cross or Manchester. The name can be spelt as Gee, Ghee, Ghie, Gie, with Mc, Mac or Ma' prefixes or a longer version as MacGeehe, MacGheehe or Macgehee. There are placenames in the Drumfrieshire, Scotland area.

Some were border said to go South (England) between the troubled times which expands through about 700-1000 years of Scottish history. We were forced to leave by our own King James in the mid-1600s for NY because of our raids into England. Others, with the Clan MacKay, went to the European mainland and Ireland as Scottish mercenaries ... hence many Scot's surnames throughout the continent. Others in the line left Scotland for England for the purpose of immigration either to earn enough money for the journey or a port of embarkation.
Respectfully, Jim Gee

Looking for information on any Gees born in England, particularly Hull or other parts of Yorkshire or in Sidcup or other parts of Kent and Sussex. My grandad is Herbert Phillip Gee who emigrated to Edmonton, Alberta after he was married and after WWI. He died there in February, 1969; was born late 1890s and had several brothers and sisters who stayed in England (I think). Although family heresay was that we came from Yorkshire (Hull), a newspaper article says my grandad came from Sidcup. We do have a family rumor that my gggrandad came to America for awhile and his house was at the base of where the Brooklyn Bridge now stands. He didn't like it here, though, and returned. We think his name was John Phillip Gee or Phillip John Gee. Any of this ring any bells? If so, please contact. Thanks.

Searching for the parents and further information on two GEE sisters from the Manchester England area. The first is Sarah GEE, born about 1816 and the second Anna Louise GEE, born about 1823. They immigrated to the US in 1825-1835, probably with their parents, who may have been Joseph and Margaret. This latter information is not confirmed. They each married William Henry Miller in Cornish, York Co., Maine -- No, not at the same time! W. H. Miller and Anna Louise also lived in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin until her untimely death in a horseback riding accident.

My grandfather, Joseph Gee came from Ticknall in Derbyshire, England. He must have been born around 1880 to 1895 but there is no record of his baptism in the Ticknall registers. There were a lot of Gee's living in the village during the last century and I have traced some members of the family back to a the 1780's although I don't know for sure if I am directly descended from these people.

Does any Gee out there think that their ancestors might have come from Ticknall or from one of the surrounding parishes such as Melbourne or Hartshill?

Please contact me for more detailed information if you think we are related!

His father's name was either Arthur George Gee or George Arthur Gee, & I believe his mother's name was Mamie. George Leonard Gee married Mary Louise Hall (born 2-23-1913). These are my grandparents on my dad's side. From what I can determine, the Gee line I come from lived in the Christian County, KY area at least starting with my great-grandparents, & continuing through me. I was born in Hopkinsville, KY, as well as my father, Robert Leonard Gee, Sr. (born 2-23-1934). I have a petition dated 1838 from my g g g g grandmother Esther Sisel for the remainder of her husband, Timothy Sexton's, pension. She lists John Gee as a relative and witness to the fact that she and Timothy were married in 1782 in York district SC. They later moved to Morgan county TN (the location of the court she is petitioning). The spelling of her last name is questionable so any variations ie. Cecil or Sessel etc could be possible. Who is John Gee and what was their connection? She states John was a young lad at the time and that he lived in the vicinity of William Hills Iron foundry on Allison creek SC. He may have moved to TN and lived in the same area as Timothy and Esther. Thanks.
